The mission of Hearing Rehabilitation Centre AURORA is to provide the most effective hearing care to children and adults with hearing loss in order to create equal opportunities for intellectual development, communication, education, work, and improving the quality of life.

Hearing Rehabilitation Centre AURORA® was founded in 1991 and provides a full range of hearing care in Ukraine, and supplies medical devices from recognized world leaders in the country – hearing aids from Oticon®, Denmark, audiological equipment for hearing and balance examination from Interacoustics®, Denmark, sound processors from Oticon Medical, France, audiometric booths from Puma®, Italy and cochlear implant systems from Cochlear®, Australia.

AURORA supplies all equipment on a turnkey basis – delivers, installs, assists with commencing the use, trains the users, provides consumables, and provides long-term support to the users.
Medical Centre Hearing Rehabilitation AURORA, a healthcare facility of the Highest Category, provides services based on evidence-based medicine to patients of all age groups – from newborns to the most elderly – including hearing screening, diagnostic examination, hearing aid fitting, cochlear implant spind processor adjustment, hearing and speech development, and early hearing intervention in infants.

Important AURORA®activities include the production of custom ear molds for hearing aids, water-, dust- and noise-protection ear earmolds, custom in-the-ear hearing aids of all styles – from the smallest IIC to the largest FC ITE; service and repair of Oticon® hearing aids, as well as service, repair, and calibration of Interacoustics® audiometric equipment.

AURORA® is the Authorized Regulatory Representative in Ukraine of the manufacturers of medical devices Oticon®, Oticon Medical, Interacoustics®, Puma®.

History of leadership

1977-1991

Scientific research of the founders in auditory diagnostics and hearing aid fitting at the Laboratory of Clinical Audiology and Vestibulology of the O.S. Kolomiychenko Kyiv Institute of Otolaryngology, contacts with the Oticon Research Centre Eriksholm.

1991

Foundation, start of business activities, introduction of evidence-based hearing aid fitting, production of acoustically modified custom earmolds, sales of Oticon hearing aids.

1992

Registration of the Medical Centre with the Ministry of Health of Ukraine.

1993

Introduction of otoacoustic emissions (OAE) for hearing assessment.

Introduction of zinc-air batteries for hearing aids, wireless FM systems for special educational institutions for hearing-impaired children.

Introduction of in-situ real-ear measurements (REM) for verification of hearing aids at the Medical Centre.

Providing advanced training courses on the basics of hearing prosthetics for 500 doctors and speech-language herapists.

Holding the All-Ukrainian OtiCongress.

Introduction of the first fully digital hearing aids in Ukraine.

Publication of the chapter “Hearing Aid Fitting” in the first textbook in Ukrainian “Clinical Otorhinolaryngology” edited by Professor Oleksandr Kitsera.

Clinical implementation of auditory brainstem response (ABR) and newborn screening.

Introduction of early hearing intervention in infants from 1 month of age.

Certification of medical devices according to the new Technical Regulations for Medical Devices.

Certification of the Medical Center according to DSTU ISO 9001:2015 and the specialized quality management standard for healthcare organizations EN 15224:2016

Introduction of wideband tympanometry.

2022-2024

International project “Hotline” for a full scope of newborn hearing screening in four hospitals, early diagnostics and hearing intervention at the Medical Centre AURORA according to the guidelines and clinical protocols of the British National Health System.

Supply of 4,300 Oticon hearing aids to Ukrmedzakupili, introduction of 3-D printing for the production of custom ear molds and in-the-ear hearing aids
